A few summer updates from our class...

Here are a few updates from our class about their summer vacations:

A note from Erica about her trip to the zoo...

Dear Mrs. D,

I hope that you are having a great summer with Moe. It was really fun having Moe in the classroom and playing with him outside. It was really fun being with you for the year.

When we were canoeing (on the Shenandoah River, this past weekend) we saw a Bald Eagle! It was my first time seeing a Bald Eagle. It was so cool! It was cool how it was on the tree. Remember that in my book I said Eagles perch in trees? I think it was trying to look for fish. Or it was just there to check the river out and see the other animals. (Remember that) I did a report about the Eagle. I really liked making a book with you.

When we were canoeing, I saw lots of fish. When we were stopped for a swimming time, we went out and it was pretty goopy, but it was like the “cliffs of insanity” (see The Princess Bride) under water.

On Monday I saw a rhino at the zoo. At the zoo I (also) saw a giraffe, and we fed them, too! When we were at the zoo, the giraffe licked Austen (Alex’s friend) and then Alex and then Austen and then Alex.

Chippy is a (stuffed) chipmunk. He is so cute! He is brown, gray, white, black, and dark brown, and he is my best stuffed animal. I got it today at the (Science Museum of Virginia), which is really cool.

Love,

Erica

A note from Andie about her bean plant...

Hi,  Hope you are staying cool!  Andie wanted me to let you know she and her dad have been taking really good care of the bean plant she brought home from school and today she ate the 3 green beans that they "harvested" from the plant yesterday! They were very GOOD.
