The Great Spaghetti Tower Challenge

This morning the giraffes worked in groups of two with first graders from the Butterfly Class to conquer "The Great Spaghetti Tower Challenge."  Their task was to build the tallest tower that they could using only spaghetti and masking tape.  Our tallest tower was 37" tall!

Strawberry Patch

Yesterday was our field trip to Chiles' Orchard to pick strawberries.  We got to ride a tractor, pick strawberries, eat strawberry ice cream, and we learned all about how strawberries are grown.  The giraffes had a great time, and we really appreciated all of the help that we received from our parents and family members that were able to come with us!

Recording our Non-Fiction Books

With the help of some of our 4th grade helpers, the giraffes recorded their non-fiction books on the Little Bird Tales website.  These stories will be posted to our blog and shared as soon as they are complete.  We are also working on creating models and dioramas of the different topics that we chose to write about.  We will post pictures of these projects soon.

Writing Non-Fiction Books

The giraffes have been researching and writing non-fiction books for the past few weeks.  Next week, we will upload our work onto a website called Little Bird Tales.  Some of the 4th and 5th graders will help us record our stories for us to publish digitally.  We will send you a link when we have finished our final drafts.  Please ask your child what they've learned about their topic.
